One mans rubbish is another mans gold....

Having made it my mission to hunt down some retro serving glasses that would suit my Eton Mess dessert,  I decided to explore the bric-a-brac market in Milnerton.

I do love a vintage find and had driven past the area a few times gasping with delight at the sight of wonderful old crates piled high in a corner and the hub of people searching through stalls to find unusual collectables.

As I scoured the stalls and fumbled around without much luck I finally came across a table of dusty glassware and amongst all the cobwebs and crusty rims sat my beautiful crimson beauties....

The lady selling these retro stunners was an interesting character too, all the way from Hermanus. As it was the end of the day, she couldn't wait to get rid of her wares and so I managed to come away with a magnificent bargain!

I was so happy that I didn't have to resign to the commercial world of @Home, as much as I love a bit of modern living, today was all about discovering gold.

The most wonderful Advent Calendar in the world...

I read in a magazine that there was a small craft market setting up in town outside Charly's Bakery on Saturday. This is a cake shop I love where they just happen to sell the most awesome cup cakes http://www.charlysbakery.co.za/ so the kids didn't need much persuading to go!!  We jumped in the car and went down to the square where we were met by cute little stalls set up selling beautiful local crafts. It's here that I stumbled across my amazing advent tree...

The labels come packed in a small brown box with instructions included in the form of a paper fortune teller (like the paper ones you made at school... )

These can be attached to the official tree sold at the stall or they can be put on your own twigs arranged in a vase or even a Christmas wreath....I went for the tree of course as I couldn't resist!!

Each tag has a cute sketched number on the front and a quote or saying hand written on the reverse.

We are only on day five and I have resisted a peek at the days ahead. I can't wait to see what message each day brings!

To discover these wonderful creations for yourself  take a little look at the JA! blog http://paperandthink.blogspot.com/

Simple things please simple minds I guess.....but in the most beautiful form!

We found hundreds of these washed up on the beach at Grotto Bay Nature Reserve.....a beach combers heaven!!

Don't you just LOVE sea urchins.....
